His left arm was stretched out on the operating table, his sleeve rolled up past the elbow, revealing his first tattoo, the Air Force insignia he got at age 18, a few weeks after graduating from high school. Sarver was trying a technique he learned in the military to block out the pain, since it was illegal to administer anesthetic for his procedure.

There are plenty of words that mean nothing on food packages: new and improved, better flavor, artisan. But just like clothes and music, food packaging has fads. Putting astronaut or space on a package was a hot ticket in 1962, but would be a dud today. Here's a little tour through the biggest-hit packaging buzzwords from the past five decades, found on foods that gained in popularity during these eras.

Thailand Attempts to Solve Overfishing By Dumping Tanks, Trains and Trucks into Sea (Video)

Thailand has decided to dump 27 army tanks, 273 old train carts, and 198 garbage trucks into the sea. It's a whole lot of scrap metal hitting the ocean floor, but it's all in an effort to create an artificial reef to solve the problem of overfishing. Government officials believe that by providing more habitat for species, the fishing industry can be sustained. While skeptical at first, locals are also latching on to the idea.
